I
headed west a couple miles from Devoto Grove on HWY 12. I planned
to stay at White Sand Campground. An interpretive sign there explained
the Colt Killed Creek name. The name was changed to White Sand but
has been returned to the Captains' original one. They killed a colt
for food near here. An Idaho Fish & Game Ranger inspects a screw
trap in the creek. She weighed and measured this yearling steelhead
headed for its ocean sojourn. They also check Chinook Salmon. The
creek flows from the southeast, top right, meeting Crooked Fork to
form the Lochsa River, right. |
