| Lolo
Creek site of the Corps's September 12, 1805 camp - now on private
property, top left. It's about 2 miles east of Lolo Hot Springs on
HWY 12 and about 23 miles west of Lolo. Sgt. Ordway noted how they
struggled to find a camp that day: "we found no water nor place
to Camp untill 10 oClock at night...we could not find a level place
to Sleep, and Scarcely any feed for our horses." The interpretive
sign sits at the edge of the highway at least a thousand yards north
of the Lolo Creek campsite. The sign gives a detailed description
of flora and fauna that the Captains discovered along the Lolo Trail.
