The Salmon River Road turned to mud as I drove west from North
Fork, on a rainy June morning. I had to share the road with this
Rocky Mountain sheep. She was busy licking minerals out of the mud.
Her kid hid in the rocks as I passed by. Clark's party toiled in
a colder, late August, rain. The Salmon River runs through a narrow
slot, above. The party's first camped on this section of river near
here. An interpretive sign stands on the road above the river.
