About
a mile past the Lewis and Clark plaque, and 1/2 mile east from ID
HWY 28, is the monument to Sacajawea's birthplace. It's no longer
as "near" to her birthplace as it once was. The ranch on
which it stood was sold. The new owners had it removed from ranch
property. It now stands near the confluence of Kenney Creek and the
Lehmi River. The Shoshone village where the Corps stayed, after crossing
Lehmi Pass, was also near here. |
