Lewis spent many hours in Thomas Jefferson's library studying botany and other sciences. Armed with these skills, he described an amazing amount of new plants on the trek west.
Agency Creek flows west through the campground. The Lehmi Shoshone winter camp was in this area for centuries before the Corps arrived.
