Lewis and Clark experts believe that Pattee Creek was the creek mentioned
by Lewis in his journal entry shown above. Top left, looking northeast,

kiosk. These two photos show the general area where Meriwether Lewis,
George Duouillard, Hugh McNeal, and John Shields actually met the
Shoshones - an old woman and a young girl. They sat on the ground,
afraid for their lives. Lewis soon alleviated their fears with presents.
