Clark Canyon Reservoir
As the Captain Lewis advance party trekked west, toward Lemhi Pass, (center left on map) they had this view of Lewis' "high rocky mountain" to the east. The rest of the Corps of Discovery experienced this scene as they started the portage toward, and over Lemhi Pass, August 23, 1805. I camped near Horse Prairie Campground, on the northwest shore, and enjoyed watching the sun and clouds playing tag over Armstead Island and the surrounding hills.
