I
left Desoto National Wildlife Refuge east on US HWY 30. I turned north
on I-29 and took the Little Sioux exit. The Little Sioux Delta access
was difficult to find. I stopped at a little store for directions.
An unmarked dirt road led to the site. As the Expedition floated past
the Little Sioux River mouth, the boat crews saw an endless river
of white ahead on the Missouri. They were amazed at this phenomenon
until they found the cause - thousands of white pelicans on a sand
bar. Top left, the Missouri River flows south past its confluence
with the Little Sioux River. Left, looking down the Little Sioux toward
the Missouri flowing by. |
