At Whitehall, I switched to MT HWY 55 to stay close to the Jefferson.
Morning sun sparkles on the river, flowing north past the Silver
Star Fishing Access, left. Captain Clark and the boat crews struggled
up the shallow river. They camped near here on August 4, 1805. Top
left, up river, south. Top right, the Tobacco Root Mountains rise
to the east , south of Whitehall.
