The
Gallatin River meets the Madison/Jefferson Rivers, forming the true
Missouri River, above and top right. Captain Clark would follow the
Gallatin River, southeast, on his return trip in 1806, right and top
left. The Corps stayed at the Missouri Headwaters, from July 27th
through the 29th, 1805. Clark and his party had arrived on the 25th.
Clark's party explored the Jefferson fork up 12 miles to determine
if it was the main river. |
