Lewis & Clark Trail
Camp Wood Illinois

Once Clark selected the Wood River site ( Lewis was still a few miles south in Cahokia) the men built 5 cabins connected by a log fence. Four cabins joined the corners while a larger one sat in the center, top left. Lewis and Clark would share this one with a guard house and storage room. Experts think the design was close to Clark's 2 sketches and standard military fort architecture.
