	The map explains how flood control has preserved the oxbows and kept them from rejoining the Missouri. A heron lifts off from lakeside and soars over the water. Captain Clark cited the great amount of wildlife here including lots of geese - he named it Gosling Lake. I saw lots of geese droppings along the lake margin but no birds.
