Our first bivouac in Huntington Valley was a few miles north
of the Donner-Reed Party's projected first camp. We hastily set
up in an old corral ahead of an oncoming storm cell. We had been
plagued with these for days. The clouds build up over the Diamond
Mountains to the southwest, top left. The next morning the sky
was clear over the range, left. At "Corral Camp," top
right, Lee Bergthold starts to dry out clothing and gear. We packed
up and headed north following a fence line, near HCO, above. The
actual trail was swamped with water.
