Our team settled into an old gravel pit for
the night, west of Circle L Ranch; Day 20, May 25, 2006. The newer
buildings of the ranch stand near Huntington Creek's eastward
swing, top left and left. The west side of the Ruby Mountains
provides a backdrop. Hugh Skinner's comment, on the plaque, is
still evident in the scenes above. It would be 30 more years before
ranchers would settle the land in Ruby and Huntington Valleys.
We met a descendant of the Zunino Ranch founder who said their
ranch was established in the 1880's. It's located about 5 miles
west of Circle L Ranch. Both ranches are labeled in a Nevada roads
and recreational atlas.
