An
early morning examination of the river bank revealed tracks from the
local fauna. Clark had noted the prolific wildlife seen the past few
days: "... Deer on the banks, Skipping in every derection, the
party Killed nine Bucks on the river & Bank to day..." I
see porcupine tracks here- I wonder if the Corps tried Porcupine steaks?
I know they consumed dogs later into the trip. |
