signs are in the information kiosk at the "red dot." The
easiest approach is from exit 247 on I-15; it takes you right to the
kiosk. Palisades Fishing Access is located behind the highest point
on the ridge., where Lewis wrote: "... the Missouri washes it's
base on the other...." (sigh, top right). Captain Lewis with
Drouillard, Lepage and Potts, was still hiking the shore and hills.
They camped on an island near Tower Rock. Meanwhile, Captain Clark
with the canoes had a separate camp a few miles down the Missouri.
He didn't get a chance to take in the view from Lewis's Observation
Point. |
