Chinook Washington

This church is the last building of a thriving village and cannery established here by P. J. McGowan and his wife. They settled here, among a few Chinook families, in 1857. The land had been granted to an early mission by the US government. The Chinook Nation is still seeking "Federal Recognition" and just compensation for confiscated land.
