Stella Washington
County Line Park, near the Cowlitz / Wahkiakum border, is near the LC camp of November 6, 1805. The park is located about 11 miles west of Stella on WA HWY 4. The Corps started from east of Longview that morning. Captain Clark complained that: "The flees are verry troublesom which collects in our blankets, at every old village we encamped at." According to him, the Expedition was free of local native visitors for only the second day since arriving on the Columbia in mid-October. Right, the view west, along the Columbia, from the park. The Corps camped somewhere near here. Of course the terrain has been altered along with the river.
