| Passing Umatilla on US HWY 730, I continued west to Irrigon Marina Park, near the Corps's October 19, 1805 camp. A granite monument, top left, greets you as you enter the park, facing the Columbia, top center. The islands, inhabited in 1805, are now under water. A sign, center, tells why the villages are on the north side. The Corps camped on that side until the Dalles. |
