Flowers
decorated the Lewis and Clark Trail, to Sherman Peak, in late July.
Top left, glacier lilies. Top right, shooting stars. Looking north,
mountain range after mountain range as far as the eye can see, right.
The view west looks different at the top. On 9-18-05, Clark saw a
hint of prairie to the west and southwest from Sherman Peak. The next
day, Lewis came upon the same scene: "...the ridge terminated
and we to our inexpressable joy discovered a large tract of Prairie
country lying to the S.W...." |
