Another
famous trail overlays the LCT - both older and newer. The ancient
"Road to the Buffalo" became an escape route for the Nez
Perce in 1877. This story will be photographed at another time. However,
it has to be mentioned here since the Nez Perce were important to
the Expedition's success. The interpretive sign is with the LCT sign
at Packer Meadows. The two trail logos, above, stand as a reminder
of the link. A Clark's Nutcracker - named by Lewis - landed near the
signs while I was there. |
