From
Salmon, US HWY 93 heads north following close to the Lewis & Clark
Trail. Captain Clark blazed this trail, with Shoshone guides, on his
reconnaissance of the Salmon River. The entire Corps passed this way
ten days later. Clark's group bivouacked near what is now Tower Rock
BLM Campground. It is one of the rare places where you can camp near
an historic Lewis & Clark Trail camp. The interpretive sign is
located here. Clark also named the Salmon River, right, " Louis's
river" while he was here. |
