| Lake
Manawa is one of those oxbows of the Missouri. It was cut off in 1881
when the river channel changed. Now it's part of a 1529 acre Iowa
State Park. The Expedition would have negotiated this bend on July
27 on their way from Camp White Catfish to a campsite on the Omaha
side of the river. Deer and a wild turkey inhabit Lake Manawa State
Park. |
