I
strayed from the Campground to Confluence Trail for a closer look
at the Missouri Headwaters flowing north toward the Gallatin River,
top left. Lewis Rock, the bare limestone outcrop, is in the background.
He climbed the hill to survey the headwaters when he arrived on July
27th, 1805. Above, Fort Rock sits above the river. The Captains named
it as a possible future fort site. A moose takes a drink at the Madison,
right. |
