continued south on US HWY 287 to Three Forks. You can reach this little
town from I-90 at exits 274 and 278. If you intend to camp at Missouri
Headwaters National Landmark and State Park, Three Forks is the nearest
supply point. The Sacajawea statue stands in a tiny park downtown.
Sculpted by Mary Michael, it was commissioned by the Three Forks Area
Historical Society, and dedicated on July 23rd, 2005 - Clark arrived
at the three forks on July 26th, 1805. Lewis and the main group arrive
on July 27th, 1805. |
