The springs are located in the group of trees, top
right. The ranch utilizes the water for its operations. A small
pond, fed by the springs, stands in the yard, bottom left. The terrain
from Silver Zone Pass to the ranch, above, appears easy for wagon
travel. The Toano Range is visible to the southeast, top left..
From Big Springs, the pioneers, loaded with a good supply of water,
headed south toward Flowery Spring, near Jasper or Flower Pass.
Although the Bidwell-Bartleson party easily threaded the Ruby Mountains
at (now) Harrison Pass, they would have a difficult Sierra crossing.
